The Supreme Court addressed non-compliance with its earlier orders by the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Environment, granting an extension of two months for the Ministry of Labour to file an affidavit, while imposing costs of Rs. 10,000 on each Ministry for the delay. The Court emphasized the need for proper decontamination of ships for ship-breaking at Alang and directed the Union of India to forward relevant affidavits to the High Power Committee for consideration. The timeline for the High Power Committee's report was also extended until 30th September 2000.
