Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under Section 14(1)(e) of the Delhi Rent Control Act, 1958, a widow's claim for eviction of her tenant is valid even after her husband's death, as the requirement for the premises is for her own use. The Court found that the High Court had erred in re-evaluating the Rent Controller's findings, which had established her bona fide need for the premises. The Supreme Court reversed the High Court's decision, reinstating the eviction order granted by the Rent Controller.
