Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the strike by Respondent No.1 union was illegal under Section 24(1)(i)(a) and (i) of the Maharashtra Recognition of Trade Unions & Prevention of Unfair Labour Practices Act, 1971. The Court found that the notice dated 14th March, 1983 did not constitute a valid strike notice as required by law. Consequently, the judgment of the High Court quashing the Labour Court's decision was set aside, affirming the Labour Court's ruling that the strike was illegal.
