Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under Section 100(1)(g) of the Madhya Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1961, land transferred to the Municipal Council for public purposes vests in the Council, thus negating any claim for compensation by the Market Committee for land previously used for market purposes. The Court emphasized that since the land in Khasra No. 412/2 was gifted for a public purpose, it is deemed vested in the Council, and the Market Committee's challenge to the compensation demand was dismissed. The appeal was therefore rejected, affirming the High Court's decision.
