Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under Section 74-C and Section 145(2) of the Gujarat Cooperative Societies Act, while the term of the elected Committee is three years, the term of the President and Vice-President is only for one year, as per bye-law 40.1. The Court found that the Collector had the authority to call a meeting for the election of the President and Vice-President, confirming that his actions were lawful. Consequently, the special leave petition was dismissed.
