Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court recalled the order dated 2.8.1996 and restored the special leave petitions concerning the regularization of daily wage clerks. The Court held that the respondents, appointed on a contract basis, do not have a right to regularization until selected according to statutory rules, as established in State of Haryana v. Piara Singh [(1992) 4 SCC 118]. The Court directed the authorities to consider the cases of the respondents for regularization in accordance with the law, allowing for age relaxation if necessary, but set aside the High Court's orders for equal pay and regularization.
