Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that a lecturer appointed without the requisite qualifications is entitled to grant-in-aid for salary only from the date he acquired the necessary qualifications, which in this case was July 10, 1987. The Court clarified that since the respondent did not possess the required qualifications at the time of his initial appointment in 1978, he is eligible for the grant-in-aid from August 1, 1987, onwards. The appeal was allowed, modifying the High Court's order accordingly.
