Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under the U.P. Intermediation Education Act, 1921, the appointment of teachers in an upgraded school requires approval from the competent authority. The Court found that the first respondent's name was not included in the official records for the years 1977-78 and 1978-79, and her appointment was not recognized as regular due to lack of approval. Consequently, the Court overturned the lower courts' decisions, which had erroneously granted her status as a permanent teacher and entitlement to salary arrears.
