Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the validity of two gift deeds executed by Bechan under the U.P. Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act, 1950, affirming that the permission for alienation was properly obtained as per Section 24 of the Act. The Court found no jurisdictional error in the Sub-Divisional Officer granting permission, despite the appellant's claims. The Court also clarified that upon Bechan's death, his widows jointly succeeded to the property under Section 171(b), and the interest passed by survivorship under Section 175 after the death of one widow.
