Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the eligibility of teachers in Ayurvedic, Unani, and Homeopathic private aided institutions for pension and gratuity under the Maharashtra State Government Civil Service (Pension) Rules, 1982. The Court held that while the Rules do not apply to these teachers, the Government must consider extending similar benefits as provided to law college teachers, as established in State of Maharashtra v. Manubhai Pragaji Vashi [(1995) 5 SCC 730]. The Court emphasized that the decision to extend such benefits is an executive policy matter, and directed the Government to evaluate the feasibility of extending these benefits to the concerned teachers.
