Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the dismissal of a writ petition challenging land acquisition notifications under Section 36 and 48 of the Punjab Town Improvement Act, 1922, and Section 4(1) of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, on grounds of vagueness. The Court reiterated that notifications cannot be quashed for vagueness if they indicate the existence of a detailed scheme and map for public inspection, as established in State of Tamil Nadu vs. L.N. Krishnan. The Court found no illegality in the High Court's conclusion, especially given the inordinate delay of eight years in filing the writ petition and the acceptance of the award by the appellants.
