Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that under Section 8 of the Himachal Pradesh University Act, 1970, the appellant-university's claim to ownership of certain properties was unfounded, as the respondent-university was determined to be the rightful owner and the appellant merely a tenant. The Court upheld the lower courts' decisions which granted eviction and possession to the respondent-university, confirming that the appellant had defaulted on rent and unlawfully occupied the premises. Consequently, the appeals by the appellant-university were dismissed.
