Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, a life estate granted to a widow enlarges into an absolute estate upon her death, thus entitling the plaintiff to the properties in question. The Court found that the Will executed by Armugham Pillai was valid, as he was the sole surviving coparcener at the time of his death, and therefore had the authority to bequeath the properties. The appeal was dismissed, affirming the lower court's decision in favor of the plaintiff's claim to the properties.
