Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court directed the respondents to appoint 18 teachers as required by the petitioners, noting that only 7 out of 18 had taken charge, while 11 candidates were not recommended for appointment by the U.P. Secondary Education Service Commission. The Court clarified that the 11 teachers appointed by the petitioner-college would be considered ad hoc appointees pending the disposal of the writ petition and would not have any claim to rights or equity. Under Section 18(3) of the U.P. Secondary Education Services Commission and Selection Board Act, 1982, the ad hoc appointments would cease upon the joining of recommended candidates or other specified conditions.
