Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the issue of maintainability of a revision under Section 56 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1956, in light of the failure to file an appeal under Section 50. The Court held that the High Court was correct in concluding that the appellant's failure to pursue the second appeal under Section 50 precluded her from seeking revision under Section 56, rendering the order of the Joint Director a nullity for lack of jurisdiction. Consequently, the Court upheld the High Court's decision to remit the matter to the Assistant Director for proper disposal.
