Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the sale deed dated October 16, 1971, was valid as it was executed under compelling necessity to discharge loans from Andhra Bank, thus not violating the Andhra Pradesh Land Reforms (Ceiling on Agricultural Holdings) Act, 1973. However, the Court ruled that lands covered by two agreements of sale must be included in the holdings of both the purchaser and the owner, as such agreements do not transfer ownership rights. The appeal was allowed in part, with no costs awarded.
