The Supreme Court held that the claim for Garage charges of Rs. 18,000/- by M/s. Jabalpur Tractors cannot be adjudicated as it is sub judice in C.S.No. 49-B/1990 before the competent Civil Court. The Court emphasized that the Consumer Protection Act does not override existing laws and thus the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission's directive to hand over possession of the car was unjustified. The appeal was allowed, setting aside the Commission's order regarding Garage charges.
