The Supreme Court held that the applicability of Section 23(1-A) of the Land Acquisition Act, as amended by Act 68 of 1984, does not extend to awards made prior to the amendment. Consequently, the claimants are not entitled to additional compensation under this section. The Court allowed the appeals to the extent that the orders of the High Court and appellate court were set aside regarding the additional payment, while confirming the award in other respects.
