Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision confirming the Land Tribunal's order granting six acres of land to each of the appellant's married sons under Section 84(1A) of the Kerala Land Reforms Act. The Court clarified that gift deeds executed between January 1, 1970, and November 5, 1974, are valid if they do not exceed the ceiling area specified in Section 82(1)(a), which allows a minimum of six acres and a maximum of seven and a half acres for an adult unmarried person or a family consisting of a sole surviving member. The appeal was dismissed as the Tribunal's order was found to be lawful and justified.
