Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court addressed the validity of Dr. Sunil Kumar Sinha's appointment as a temporary Lecturer in Economics during Dr. L.B. Sinha's leave. The Court held that Dr. Sunil Kumar's appointment was valid under Section 2 of the U.P. State University (Validation of Appointments) Act, 1984, which validated certain appointments made in excess of advertised posts. However, the Court ruled that Dr. Sunil Kumar would not be entitled to arrears of salary, as the pay he received prior to April 1, 1993, was deemed sufficient to meet the ends of justice.
