Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the interim order of the Delhi High Court directing the National Power Transmission Corporation (NPTC) to ensure equal pay for equal work for employees recruited from other corporations was unjustified. The Court emphasized that the terms and conditions of service for employees of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) were protected under the Government's instructions and the circular issued by NTPC. The Court set aside the High Court's direction, stating that no irreparable injury would occur to NTPC employees if the direction was not implemented, thereby allowing the appeal under Article 226 of the Constitution of India.
