Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under Section 32 of the Bombay Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948, the tillers' day is crucial for determining the rights of tenants. The Court found that the appellant's claim to postpone the tillers' day was invalid as her son, a joint family member, did not fall under the protected categories of Section 32 F(1)(a). Consequently, the tenant, Dayanu, became the deemed purchaser of the land on the tillers' day, resulting in the dismissal of the appellant's appeal with no order as to costs.
