Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the High Court's revisional jurisdiction under Section 26 of the Hyderabad House (Rent, Eviction and Lease) Control Act, 1954 is limited to jurisdictional errors or illegal exercises of jurisdiction, akin to Section 115 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. The Court found that the appellate authority did not act without jurisdiction or illegally, thus reversing the High Court's decision which had allowed the tenant's revision petition. The landlord's appeal was allowed, affirming the eviction order based on the provisions of the Act.
