Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, the findings of the Tribunal regarding the non-employment of workmen must be based on substantial evidence. The Court found that 131 out of 186 workmen had worked for more than 240 days, thus entitling them to confirmation of employment under Section 25F. The Court restored the Tribunal's decision regarding these workmen while noting that the claims of the remaining workmen were not substantiated, leading to the dismissal of their appeals.
