Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that the properties situated within the boundaries of Umaid Bhavan Palace do not fall within the definition of 'estate' under Section 2(b) of the Rajasthan Land Reforms and Acquisition of Land Owners Estate Act, 1963. The Court held that the transfers of land made after August 16, 1971, are not void under Section 3(2) of the Rajasthan Urban Property (Restriction of Transfers) Act, 1973. Consequently, the notices issued under Section 9A of the Land Reforms Act were quashed, affirming the petitioners' ownership rights over the land.
