Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that daily-rated workers of the Delhi Mineral Development Corporation, who performed duties of Group 'D' posts, are entitled to equal pay for equal work under Article 39(d) in conjunction with Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution of India. The Court held that the non-regularisation of these workers was arbitrary and discriminatory, and that practical experience should be considered for regularisation despite initial educational qualifications. The writ petitions were allowed, affirming the workers' rights to equal pay and regularisation.
