Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court examined whether law reports published by All India Reporter Limited qualify as newspapers under the Working Journalists and other Newspapers Employees (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955. The Court held that these law reports do not meet the definition of newspapers as per Section 2(b) of the Act, thus the employees are not entitled to benefits under the Act. The Court overturned the High Court's ruling, affirming the applicability of the Palekar Award to the respondent.
