Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Regional Transport Authority (R.T.A.) violated the principles of natural justice by not allowing the appellants to participate in proceedings regarding their stage carriage permit renewals under Section 58 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The Court found that the R.T.A. failed to inform the appellants of meetings where their applications were discussed, leading to an unfair dismissal of their renewal applications in favor of fresh permits for the Rajasthan State Road Corporation. The Court ordered that both the appellants' and the Corporation's applications be reconsidered afresh by the R.T.A.
