Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the temples Sri Dwarkadhishji Mandir and Sri Trikamrayji Mandir were public trusts under Section 2(13) and Section 2(17) of the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950. The Court found that the temples had been dedicated for public worship, and the mere fact that the appellant claimed them as private properties did not negate their public nature. The Court upheld the findings of the Charity Commissioner and the High Court, concluding that the temples were established for the benefit of the community at large, thus dismissing the appeal.
