Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court established that the outer limit for reservation of seats in medical colleges for MBBS and BDS courses should be 70%, with 30% of seats available for All India admissions based on merit through an All India Entrance Examination or state examination. For post-graduate courses, the reservation should not exceed 50% of open seats. The Court directed that the examination must be conducted in English and mandated that at least 15% of seats for undergraduate and 25% for postgraduate courses be filled based on the All India Entrance Examination, ensuring fairness across states.
