Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Madhya Pradesh Abolition of Proprietary Rights (Estates, Mahals, Alienated Lands) Act, 1950 and the M. P. Land Revenue Code, 1959 are in pari materia, allowing Revenue Officers to exercise provisional powers under both statutes. The Court dismissed the appellants' contention that the Commissioner lacked jurisdiction to revise the Collector's order, affirming that both the Commissioner and the Board of Revenue have appellate and revisional powers. The appeal was dismissed, confirming the High Court's ruling.
