Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court affirmed the Allahabad High Court's ruling that mere termination of a license does not grant the licensee the right to claim adverse possession unless they assert a hostile title after the termination. The Court clarified that unauthorized possession alone, even for over 12 years, is insufficient for claiming adverse possession under Article 65 of the Limitation Act, 1963. The appeal was dismissed, but the Court granted the appellant time to vacate certain premises under specified conditions.
