Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that under Section 3 and Section 6 of the Madhya Pradesh Abolition of Proprietary Rights (Estates, Mahals, Alienated Lands) Act, 1950, any transfer of property rights made after 16th March 1950 becomes void upon vesting in the State on 31st March 1951. The Court found that the forest contract dated 15th March 1951 was void as it was made after the cut-off date, thus the plaintiff was not entitled to recover the sum paid. The appeal was dismissed, affirming the High Court's decision to set aside the trial court's decree.
