Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the dismissal of the appellant, a school teacher, by the Deputy Commissioner was valid as he had the authority to do so under the delegation of powers from the Commissioner, consistent with Section 95(1) of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957. The Court ruled that the disciplinary authority was not required to record its reasons if it concurred with the findings of the enquiry officer. The appeal was dismissed as the appellant failed to substantiate claims of incompetence of the Deputy Commissioner and the invalidity of the regulation.
