Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that Section 5A of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 mandates a personal hearing for objectors to an acquisition, and its noncompliance renders the acquisition order invalid. The Court found that the appellants were denied this right despite their request, leading to the conclusion that the principles of natural justice were not satisfied. Consequently, the Court allowed the appeal and invalidated the acquisition order confirmed by the State Government.
