Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the validity of Section 6(xvii) of the U.P. Imposition of Ceiling on Land Holdings Act, 1960 and Rule 4(4) of the U.P. Imposition of Ceilings and Land Holdings Rules, 1961, stating that these provisions are protected under Article 31B of the Constitution as they are part of a land reform scheme. The Court found that the provisions do not violate Articles 14, 19(1)(f) and (g), and 31(1) as they fall within the powers conferred by the statute. Consequently, the petition challenging these provisions was dismissed without any order as to costs.
