Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the appeals against acquittal were barred by Article 114 of the Limitation Act, 1963, as the appellant failed to comply with Section 417(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which requires a special leave application to be made within 60 days of the acquittal. The Court clarified that Section 624B of the Companies Act, 1956 does not override the limitation period set by the Limitation Act. Consequently, the appeals were dismissed as time-barred.
