Judgment text excerpt
The Supreme Court held that under Section 14 of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, a widow who dispossesses her husband's heirs and later reoccupies the property does not acquire full ownership rights. The Court ruled that L's possession after June 1, 1951, was that of a trespasser, and thus she could not claim ownership under the Act. The decree of the High Court was upheld, confirming that the plaintiff, as the nearest reversioner, was entitled to the properties after L's death.
