Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that once a public servant's resignation is accepted by the appropriate authority, it becomes effective immediately, regardless of whether the acceptance is communicated to the resigning party. The Court clarified that there is no statutory requirement for communication of acceptance for it to be valid, and thus the appellant could not withdraw his resignation after acceptance. The Court also ruled that the orders accepting the resignation were not dismissals under Article 311 of the Constitution, affirming the High Court's dismissal of the writ petition.
