Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the validity of Section 32FF of the Pepsu Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1955, which prevents land transfers to certain relations from affecting the ceiling on land under personal cultivation. The Court ruled that this provision was enacted to prevent evasion of the ceiling laws and does not violate Article 31A of the Constitution. The petitioner’s challenge was dismissed as the land in question exceeded the prescribed ceiling, thus affirming the State's right to declare surplus land.
