Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the will executed by Lakshmayya did not contain direct words of disposition in favor of the respondent, who claimed rights as persona designata. The Court found that the will merely directed the widow to adopt and that the gift to the respondent was conditional upon adoption, which did not occur. Consequently, the Court reversed the High Court's decision, ruling that the respondent was not entitled to the properties claimed as persona designata.
