Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision to admit additional evidence regarding the age of a candidate under Article 173(b) of the Constitution of India and Order 41 Rule 27 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. The Court established that additional evidence can be admitted not only to enable judgment but also for any substantial cause, and the omission to record reasons for such admission does not vitiate it. The appellant's objections regarding the admission of evidence were overruled as he did not press his application against it.
