Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that Section 107 of the United Provinces District Board Act, 1922 does not classify obstruction or molestation of an employee of a contractor with the Board as an offence. The court clarified that the Raja, who holds the lease, is the contractor, while the appellant is merely his employee. Consequently, the acquittal of Mewa Lal by the Sessions Judge was upheld, as the appellant lacked the standing to prosecute under the Act. The appeal was dismissed without addressing the merits of the first two contentions raised by the appellant.
