Court
Supreme Court of India
Petitioner
BALJEET SINGH & OTHERS
Respondent
RISAL SINGH & OTHERS

Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court ruled that the appeals filed by the appellants were not rendered infructuous due to consolidation operations under the U.P. Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1953, as the Act did not affect the appeals during or after the consolidation. The Court clarified that the bar of res judicata did not apply since the previous judgments were not between the same parties and involved different plots. Thus, the appeals were allowed to proceed despite the claims of res judicata by the respondents.
