Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the Chief Minister's approval of the nationalization scheme under the Motor Vehicles Act (IV of 1939, amended by Act 100 of 1956, ch. IVA, s. 68D) did not violate the principles of natural justice or the doctrine of bias. The Court reaffirmed that while no one should be a judge in their own cause, the statutory provisions did not empower the Chief Minister to act in a biased manner. The appellants' challenge was dismissed as they had previously accepted the Chief Minister's competence to decide objections, thus precluding them from reopening the matter.
