Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the termination of the respondent's services was valid under the Standing Orders approved under the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, and the Central Provinces and Berar Industrial Disputes Settlement Act, 1947. The Court interpreted Standing Order No. 2(a) to mean that the definition of 'employees' includes those whose names and ticket numbers, if any, are included in the departmental musters, thus allowing for employees without tickets. Consequently, the Court upheld the applicability of the Standing Orders to the respondent, affirming the legality of the termination under Standing Order No. 16(1).
