The Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of Sections 4 and 5 of the Prize Competitions Act (42 of 1955) and Rules 11 and 12, affirming that 'prize competition' as defined in Section 2(d) pertains solely to gambling competitions. The Court ruled that restrictions on gambling competitions do not infringe upon the right to carry on business under Article 19(1)(g) of the Constitution. The principle of severability was applied, allowing valid provisions to remain enforceable even if others were deemed invalid.
