Judgment text excerpt

The Supreme Court held that the provisions of Hyderabad Regulation X of 1359 F. did not render the trial of the accused illegal despite being enacted before the Constitution came into force. The Court established that Article 14 of the Constitution does not have retrospective effect and that only provisions inconsistent with fundamental rights are invalidated under Article 13(1). The trial's validity was upheld as long as it did not deviate from the normal standards of justice, confirming the death sentence of the accused.
