The petitioner through instant petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is seeking setting aside of order dated 26.11.2021 whereby respondent No.3-Vice Chancellor, Panjab University has set aside his election to the senate from the ‘Teachers of Affiliated Arts Colleges’ constituency. He is further seeking declaration that he continues to be a teacher of an affiliated college and is eligible to be enrolled as a voter and file his nomination as a candidate. He is also seeking direction to respondent No.2-Chancellor, Panjab University to decide his representation dated 05.12.2021 as well as direction to respondent Nos.1 to 4 to permit him to file his nomination for senate election scheduled for September’ 2026. He is also praying that operation of the impugned order dated 26.11.2021 may be kept in abeyance.
