The present writ petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India has been filed seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No. 2 and 3 to safeguard the lives and personal liberty of the petitioners as well as the family members of petitioner No. 2, and to restrain private respondents No. 4 to 7 from harassing or interfering with the peaceful life and liberty of the petitioners. A further direction has also been sought against respondents No. 1 to 3 to provide adequate protection to the petitioners from the alleged threat posed by private respondents No. 4 to 7 and their family members. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners seeks protection of life and liberty of the petitioners by contending that both of them having attained the age of majority, have married each other against the wishes of their respective family mem
